One of the more popular installments in the Final Fantasy series – as well as the game that no doubt drove countless RPG fans to purchase a PlayStation 2 back in the day – is going to hit Steam in an HD remastered format. And it’s coming sooner than you might think – on May 12. Yup, that’s this week. The spiced-up version will include HD remastered characters and locations, a rearranged soundtrack, the content from the International Edition, as well as the various game boosters we’ve already come to expect from Square Enix’s Steam offerings.

The pack, as the title implies, contains both Final Fantasy X, as well is its sequel, X-2. In the original game, you take on the role of a young blitzball player (it’s kinda like football, except underwater. Just, uh... roll with it) called Tidus who founds himself whisked away into the magical world of Spira, and has to face a world-threatening foe called Sin.

As previously stated, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will be available on Steam come May 12.
