You may
remember The Vanishing of Ethan Carter as a gorgeous-looking 2014 horror adventure focused on discovery and exploration, not entirely unlike, say, Dear Esther – the story involveda detective with supernatural abilities trying to track down a boy by the name of Ethan Carter. Now, roughly a year after its original release, developer The Astronauts is back with an improved version of the title, running on Unreal Engine 4 (as opposed to the original’s UE3). The new version offers minor graphical improvements and tweaks, a new, more player-friendly saving system and the ability to fast travel, among other things. The team noted, however, that the new version requires a minimum of 6 gigabytes of RAM to run as opposed to the original’s 4 – still, as the storyline remains completely unchanged in the redux version, you can still get more or less the same experience from playing the original.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Redux is out now on PC. Don’t worry about deciding which version to buy, though – by purchasing the game, you actually get both.
