What happens to the bravest of the brave when they die a glorious death on the battlefield? In Norse mythology, they go to the plains of Valhalla and enjoy an afterlife fit for a hero. Not in the case of Thora, a warrior who had died an inglorious death, and must fight her way through purgatory to be allowed into Valhalla. And this is where you come in – you guide Thora through a massive, randomly generated world peppered with puzzles, mysteries, and tough, unforgiving combat, with challenging boss fights not entirely unlike the ones you might have seen in Shadow of the Colossus. All in 2D, of course. Project lead William Dubé cites the The Legend of Zelda as one of the major inspirations, and I can definitely see why. The
campaign is doing well, but it’s still quite far from reaching its goal of $50.000; the team is aiming for alpha release in sixth months, with a final release sometime in September 2015.
The game will be available for PC and Mac – in other words, no stretch goals for consoles and handhelds just yet, I’m afraid (only Linux at 60 thousand), but we’ll see.
