The Australian team of Powerhoof really do know how to craft memorable trailers, don’t they? And they sure have a knack for selecting the best narrator for the job, too. Their game, titled Crawl, has only recently become available for purchase on Steam Early Access, coupled with a launch trailer that’s nothing if not convincing – and terrifying, too, in a way. Crawl – as the name implies – is a dungeon crawler; a dungeon crawler meets beat-em-up meets traditional RPG, should we wish to be more specific – a game where players act as heroes and brave the depths of randomly generated dungeons in hopes of finding fame, fortune and XP. What makes Crawl really exciting, however, is its 2-4 player local multiplayer, with each abominable monster and sinister trap being controlled by other players. Said monster-players, upon successfully slaying the Hero, switch places with him and begin the adventure in his shoes. An adventure that, we must add, wouldn’t be a real adventure without a massive boss monster waiting at the end – one that is being collectively controlled by other players, naturally.

Crawl is currently available on Steam Early Access for PC, Mac and Linux at a starting price of $9.99 / L6.99 / €9.99.
