You may remember Bandai Namco’s recent teaser trailer about an upcoming new title – well, now we know that the title in question is Code Vein, a completely new IP from the team behind God Eater that introduces itself as a hardcore, Dark Souls-y dungeon-crawling RPG running on Unreal Engine 4. It also has vampires. The game takes place in a desolated world sometime in the near future, with the player taking on the role of a vampire (a so-called Revenant) with supernatural abilities. According to the initial report, the gameplay will feature so-called “Buddies” – in short, you’ll be able to take one AI-controlled partner with you into the dungeons you explore.

Code Vein is scheduled to launch in 2018 for currently unspecified console platforms, and its development is approximately 35% complete at present. The team also plans to release a trailer in the near future, sometime in early May.
