Project Hardcore, a 2D sci-fi shooter that has remained unreleased since the 90s, will soon be available on PS4 and PS Vita by courtesy of Strictly Limited Games. Developed by Digital Illusions (DICE) and originally set to be released in 1994 for Commodore Amiga, Sega Mega Drive and Sega Mega-CD, the game ultimately ended up being put on hold so that the company could focus on newer gaming platforms like the Sony PlayStation. After well over two decades, though, Strictly Limited Games successfully secured a copy of the original build and will finish up the project with help from some of the developers who worked at DICE – if everything goes according to plan, Project Hardcore will be out in 2019. Well, you know what they say: better late than never.
