Lightbulb Crew and Focus Home Interactive have announced a July 28 release date for Othercide, a turn-based tactical RPG with horror elements and a unique, black-and-white-and-red aesthetic. Othercide’s premise is nothing if not apocalyptic – you command an elite group of female warriors called the Daughters, and have to battle invading monsters from another dimension to save the world from utter destruction. Combat in Othercide is tough and and turn-based, requiring strategic planning and a willingness to accept losses, as you’ll occasionally have to sacrifice one of your own Daughters in order to heal another. The game also uses a so-called Dynamic Timeline System that displays characters – both hostile and friendly – on a horizonal timeline, allowing you to plan ahead and potentially disrupt the flow of events (for example, by delaying an enemy’s attack) to create situations that work in your team’s favor.

Othercide will be launching on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on July 28, with the Switch version arriving a bit later during the summer.
