It’s time to end January with a bang – here are some of the most intriguing indie game releases from the final week of the month! Enjoy!

THE SPIRIT LIFT

A deckbuilder roguelike, set in the good ol’ 1990s and starring a bunch of teenagers who wander off from their graduation ceremony, only to discover a magical lift. One that takes them into literal hell. Oops.

Earth Must Die

The alien protagonist of Earth Must Die really wants Earth to die – I think if you read the game’s delightfully snarky, expletive-filled Steam description, that becomes glaringly obvious. Oh, and the game itself is a point & click adventure, by the way, featuring a very impressive cast of talented voice actors.

Millennium Dream

Are you nostalgic for the millennium? So am I. Well, if you also like beautifully modeled liminal spaces mixed with Chinese Dreamcore, you’re already the target audience for this game.

LANESPLIT

If you’re looking at this game, chances are you have a need... for speed. And bikes. In LANESPLIT, while great speed does come with great rewards, it also comes with great danger. So, you know. Try not to crash your bike.

Ghost Keeper

You’re in a spooky 19th-century mansion in England, except... you control the monsters! Ghosts, demons, and everything in-between – take your pick, and scare the living you-know-what out of your unsuspecting victims.

Roots Devour

Want to be the bad guy again? Say no more. Roots Devour lets you take control of a being driven by the desire to feed and expand – stretch your roots and take down everything in your path, including towns, swamps and cities.

Echoes of Elysium

A co-op survival RPG where you command and customize your very own airship, facing threats both in the air and on the ground. Oh, and did I mention there’s also six-player co-op? You know, in case you want more help – or more chaos.

The Midnight Walkers

A hardcore zombie game where you fight against both the living and the dead. Described as a PvPvE FPS with solo and trio modes, The Midnight Walkers has you explore dangerous locations in search of loot and gear… while being hunted by zombies and other players alike.

Vampires: Bloodlord Rising

An open-world vampire game where you become an ambitious bloodsucker in search of power and glory. Playable both solo and in co-op, Bloodlord Rising will let you customize your castle, enslave villagers and build your very own empire as the new apex predator of the realm.

Fear the Timeloop

Fear the Timeloop is, as you might expect, all about a time loop – as Sheriff James Cooper, you have fifteen minutes left before you succumb to your wounds and die. But the thing is, even after death, you keep coming back with all your memories intact. Your job? Break the cycle, survive the monster-infested hospital you’re stuck in, and maybe, if you’re lucky, get some answers in the process.
