Development of a sequel to 2017’s anime-style horror adventure game, Tokyo Dark, has been put on hold indefinitely, developer Cherrymochi announced on Twitter. They go on to note that the sequel has been in the works since the original’s release, and that while the company itself will be able to stay afloat, they’ll now have to move on to other projects. Not all hope seems to be lost, though – in a follow-up tweet, Cherrymochi added that they’re open to the idea of teaming up with a new publisher to help save the project.

Tokyo Dark’s storyline focuses on Detective Ito, a young woman investigating the mysterious disappearance of her partner in Tokyo – her search, however, brings her face-to-face with the dark, sanity-defying underbelly of the city. The game is currently available at 50% off on Steam, by the way, if you’d like to pick it up. The sale lasts until April 1.
