In case you missed it the other day, Sony held another State of Play broadcast to announce and provide updates on all the latest games coming to PlayStation 5 – and while numerous major titles and exciting reveals were indeed featured, the broadcast showed plenty of love to various indie projects as well. Have a look at our list below!
Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement
Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained is getting a new game, titled Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement. Taking place years before the original title, this new story will follow protagonists Leo and Alex as they venture into the dreadful Ethereal Castle to face the Demon Lord Elias.

Tides of Tomorrow
Tides of Tomorrow is described as an asynchronous multiplayer game set on a vast ocean planet where your choices will be affected by the decisions of another player, be it a friend, a streamer, or someone else. An interesting concept, to say the least – and I’m more than curious to see how it will work in action.

Romeo is a Dead Man
Romeo is a Dead Man, the latest project from SUDA51’s Grasshopper Manufacture, seems to be about as crazy of an action game as you’d expect from the mind that brought us Killer7, No More Heroes and Lollipop Chainsaw. Release date: 2026 (maybe)
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound
Gorgeous pixel art, snazzy tunes and demons to slay – Ninja Gaiden is back with a new 2D entry, and it’s looking absolutely stellar. But here’s one more thing that makes me excited about Ragebound: it’s being developed by The Game Kitchen, the development studio known for their work on the Blasphemous series.

Sword of the Sea
ABZU developer Giant Squid’s latest game is about surfing across beautiful landscapes as you ride waves and sand dunes alike – your trusty partner will be the so-called Hoversword, which is described as “a snowboard, skateboard, and surfboard all in one.” Fancy.

Baby Steps
If you’ve wanted a literal walking simulator, well, here it is. In Baby Steps, you play “unemployed failson” Nate who discovers the magic of… being able to place one foot in front of another. In case you’re wondering why this game is the way it is, here’s another nugget of information that should clear up all your confusion: it’s being worked on by the same Bennett Foddy whose name is most often associated with Getting Over It.
