Developed by London-based indie studio Violoken, Little Mage is quite a spectacle – announced just recently at the Future Games Show, the game takes players to the gorgeous, once-flourishing city of Hornedrose where, in the role of a so-called Aether Mage, they will explore a dark and breathtaking capital teeming with secrets and danger. Gameplay-wise, the project will offer challenging platforming and a variety of strategic boss battles to put your skills to the test as you wield different combinations of elemental spells such as Fire, Earth, Metal and Aether. What’s more, the game will even include its own card-based minigame known as DARC.

Little Mage has been inspired by genre titans like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Hollow Knight, with its art direction drawing from the Gothic and Baroque styles, as well as the designs of Lebbeus Woods and H.R. Giger.

A Kickstarter campaign is also being planned for later this year in order to help bring in more talent to the project – however, regardless of whether or not the campaign succeeds, Little Mage will still be released. In the meantime, you can watch the game’s brief teaser trailer below:

Little Mage will be coming to both PC and consoles.
