Developer Microids and What The Prod have announced their plans to create an animated series based on Benoît Sokal’s beloved adventure game franchise, Syberia. As the announcement explains, What The Prod is a well-respected production company currently working on writer-director Sylvain Chomet’s The Magnificent Life of Marcel Pagnol.

For those unfamiliar with the franchise’s history, the Syberia series began its life all the way back in 2002 with the release of the first game, Syberia, which put players in the role of Kate Walker, a New York lawyer who ends up going on a fantastical journey across Europe and Russia. A 2004 sequel titled Syberia 2 was soon produced, which continued the adventures of Kate Walker; however, the third installment – Syberia 3 – wouldn’t be released until 2017. The series’ latest outing happened just last year with Syberia: The World Before, a game that utilized dual protagonists: Kate Walker in 2004 and a young girl named Dana Roze in the late 1930s.
