Surreal adventure game Tormentum looking to get funded on Indiegogo

Tormentum: Dark Sorrow, at first glance, is not something you see every day, at least in terms of visual presentation, as the upcoming Polish point and click adventure is heavily inspired by the works of the late H.R. Giger, as well as Polish painter Zdzislaw Beksinski. And let’s be honest, it shows. It shows all too well – terrifyingly so. In the game, players take on the role of an amnesiac hero without a shred of recollection regarding his name or origins – as it so often happens in games –, who is then burdened with the rather obvious task of, well, finding out who he is, where he came from and why exactly he is in the nightmarish land serving as the game’s primary setting. Tormentum, as a game, isn’t a revolutionary affair, this much is certain – it’s basically a point and click adventure where you point, click and solve a myriad of clever puzzles. But that’s hardly a problem, really, especially when paired with the deliciously nightmare-inducing visuals and a hopefully memorable and sufficiently dark storyline matching the melancholy graphics. The game’s Indiegogo campaign is still far from over – or from being funded –, but if there’s anything the project has plenty of, it’s time. 9000 dollars is the asking price, which may very well be met by August 1: whether or not the stretch goals (translations to more languages, full voice acting, etc.) also make it, though, is another matter.

If Tormentum’s campaign ends up being successful, it will be released for PC, Mac, iOS and Android. An exact release date has not been determined yet.
