Earlier this year, we
took a brief trip down memory lane in order to recall some of the more notable video games inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft (and partially Edgar Allan Poe). We’ve had survival horror, first person shooters and point and click adventures aplenty, so get ready for something different now – Stygian, an upcoming title based on the mythos and lore created by Lovecraft, is going to be a fairly traditional-looking 2D RPG with tactical, turn-based combat. In it, you explore the city of Arkham, whisked away to a terrifying dimension and ruled by horrific, trans-dimensional monstrosities – joining you on your quest are a similarly bizarre set of companions, including an intelligent cat from Ulthar, and a reanimated soldier from World War 1. Sounds like an adventure, no?
Stygian is currently up on Kickstarter with a relatively modest, €55,000 goal. It is expected to release sometime in 2017 for PC, Mac and Linux.
