Square Enix’s freshly announced JRPG project (formerly known as Project Setsuna), Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna is one for the oldies – the team’s guiding mentality for the project, as it turned out, is rooted deeply in trying to let players relive the same memorable experiences they had with classic RPGs from the 90s. The game’s story – according to the official site – concerns an island where the locals carry out sacrificial rituals every ten years in order to appease the monsters and thus maintain peace on their land. However, monster attacks begin to rapidly increase and a new ritual becomes necessary – the person to be sacrificed this time is an eighteen-year-old girl by the name of Setsuna. Surrounded by her escorts, she embarks upon a journey to the very ends of the earth to carry out the ritual.

The game boasts of being a “true RPG” and is scheduled to be released early next year in Japan for PS4 and PS Vita.
