It would appear that last year’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, wasn’t exactly the final chapter in the cinematic career of the zombie-centric franchise. It is, however, going to head in a seemingly new direction: as reported by Variety, Martin Moszkowicz, the chairman of the board at Constantin Film, confirmed that a fresh reboot is being planned for the series, with six new movies set to be produced. That’s a whole lot of extra undead slaying, if you ask me. Additionally, it is unlikely that Milla Jovovich, the star of all six previous films, will return in the leading role – when talking to ComicBook.com, she expressed surprise at the reboot’s announcement, and noted that whoever works on the new series, they’d have to do it with passion: „I think what made Resident Evil so special is that the people involved really loved what they’re doing and really were fans of the game. I would suggest that you find people that have that same passion for the property before you talk about reboots.”, the actress remarked.
