So, a Resident Evil 2 remake, huh? Well, alright, I’m not talking about an official remake, but rather a fan effort – still, the so-called Resident Evil 2 Reborn project is most definitely worth a quick look. As a sequel to one of the granddaddies of survival horror, Resident Evil 2 – released back in 1998 – starred then-rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy as he explored the zombie-infested streets of Raccoon City. The fan-made remake attempt was originally created in Unity, after which the team decided to switch to Unreal Engine 4 – the videos below aim to show off this new version. The game is also dropping the original’s fixed camera angles and instead opts to go for the over-the-shoulder view first introduced in Resident Evil 4. According to the creators, the fan remake attempts not only to revitalize an old classic, but imbue it with certain new features to create a slightly different experience.

The alpha version of Resident Evil 2 Reborn is scheduled to be released free of charge sometime this summer. No specific release date has been given just yet.
