Welcome to GTOGG’s December 2020 edition of Promising Indie Releases, where we highlight indie and non-mainstream titles that we believe deserve your attention – in other words, “look at all this potentially cool stuff you might’ve missed otherwise”. That would’ve been too long for a title, though.
In any case, let’s get right down to it.

El Hijo – A Wild West Tale
Who said a six-year-old couldn’t become the hero of a Wild West epic? El Hijo – a Wild West Tale is the story of a young boy in search of his mother – instead of intense gunfights, though, our child protagonist uses stealth and clever distraction to outwit dangerous outlaws.

Haven
Haven stars two lovers that escape to a mysterious alien planet to be together – with only each other to rely on, Yu and Kay must collect materials to fix their ship, harvest food to cook meals and engage in a battle system that revolves around well-timed, synched-up movements. Because remember: two heads are better than one.

Nine Witches: Family Disruption
A comedic alternate history adventure of epic proportions, Nine Witches: Family Disruption stars a professor capable of conversing with the spirits of the dead. Along with his trusted assistant, he undertakes a new mission, and it’s no ordinary job – they must stop the Nazis before they endanger the entire world with their supernatural schemes.

Orwell’s Animal Farm
Orwell’s Animal Farm, as the title quite clearly implies, is an adaptation of the famed English author’s popular dystopian novel of the same name. Having rid themselves of their human masters, the animals form their own community, where all animals are equal… but some animals are more equal than others.

Unto The End
In Unto The End, it’s just you, your sword... and a massive wilderness teeming with deadly, intelligent creatures. Your task is to make it back to your family, but in order to do so, you must master a challenging combat system that requires patience, precision and strategy.

DARQ: Complete Edition
DARQ: Complete Edition is, as the name implies, a complete version of the Tim Burton-esque horror-puzzler that follows a boy named Lloyd as he journeys across the twisted landscape of his own subconscious. Other than the base game, DARQ: Complete Edition will also include two extra DLCs for more adventures, puzzles and unexpected twists.

Call of the Sea
Will you heed the call of the sea? If you’re up for some adventure, developer Out of the Blue has plenty to offer. In Call of the Sea, you take on the role of a young woman in the 1930s who goes off on a journey to find the missing expedition of her vanished husband, and ends up at a mysterious tropical island.
