September has arrived, kicking off the fall gaming season in style – and indeed, even the first few days of the month are looking fairly packed, offering a variety of heavy-hitters that you’ll probably want to keep an eye on. Here’s our look at some of the most interesting indie games coming out in the first week of September!

Bad Cheese (September 1)
Remember those charming cartoons from the black-and-white era? Now, what if we turned them into complete and utter nightmare fuel? That’s more or less the vibe I’m getting from Bad Cheese, a psychological horror game inspired by 1920s animation, and it’s looking… sufficiently creepy, not gonna lie.

Otherskin (September 2)
A third-person sci-fi adventure of epic proportions where you go on a deadly solo mission assisted by your AI suit in order to explore planet Vandermire, the home of an alien species that threatens all life as we know it.

METAL EDEN (September 2)
A fast-paced sci-fi FPS where you dive head-first into a suicide mission to save the citizens of the deadly orbital city Moebius – you’re a so-called “Hyper Unit”, a combat android that will stop for nothing and no one in order to complete its mission.

Hirogami (September 3)
A visually stunning game inspired by origami, the art of Japanese paper folding. You take on the role of Hiro, an enigmatic performer who happens to be a master of that art – so much so that he’s able to transform into a variety of folded creatures, granting him new skills. So, if you’ve ever wanted to play a game as a paper armadillo, here’s your chance.

Hollow Knight: Silksong (September 4)
The game you’ve been waiting all these years for is finally here – Silksong, the much-anticipated sequel to beloved metroidvania superstar Hollow Knight, announced its official launch date recently, and is shaping up to be just as expansive and influential as its predecessor.

Casebook 1899 - The Leipzig Murders (September 4)
A retro-style point & click adventure with German voice acting, Casebook 1899 whisks you away to 19th century Leipzig in order to have you solve four different murder cases.

Tokyo Underground Killer (September 5)
In this relentless, “neon-infused” katana action game, you become Kobayashi, an assassin nicknamed the “Shinjuku Vampire”, who goes on a mission to track down and eliminate the dangerous maniacs that threaten Tokyo.

Cronos: The New Dawn (September 5)
The latest project from the developers of Layers of Fear and the recent Silent Hill 2 remake, Cronos: The New Dawn combines sci-fi horror with elements of Eastern European brutalism. In it, you must locate time rifts in the dystopian wastelands of the future in order to travel to 1980s Poland and harvest the soul essences of key people who might help you learn more about the apocalypse. Here’s the twist, though: the more of these “ghosts” you carry with you, the more haunted your suit will be, and the closer you’ll drift to madness.
