Welcome to GTOGG’s June 2025 edition of Promising Indie Game Releases, where we highlight indie and non-mainstream titles that we believe deserve your attention – in other words, “look at all this potentially cool stuff you might’ve missed otherwise”. That would’ve been too long for a title, though.

In any case, let’s get right down to it.

Dragon is Dead

A roguelite action-platformer with gorgeous pixel art and deadly challenges, Dragon is Dead tells a story about an evil dragon who’s threatening to corrupt the world… and the fierce Dragon Slayer who must stop the beast before it’s too late. (That’s you.)

Dune: Awakening

If you’re into Funcom’s brand of open world survival and crafting (a la Conan: Exiles), this is probably the next big thing you’re looking forward to: a multiplayer survival game taking place in the vast and expansive world of Dune.

Awita: Journey of Hope

Awita looks like comfort food for pixel art metroidvania enthusiasts. In it, you follow the journey of the titular Awita, a young girl on a mission to try and find a cure for the deadly epidemic that threatens her home.

Bygone Dreams

A colorful 3D action game with plenty of creativity poured into it, Bygone Dreams is shaping up to the one of June’s more promising releases – especially based on the positive experiences we’ve had with its free playable prologue.

HELLBREAK

A fast-paced roguelite FPS, HELLBREAK will, as its title implies, pit you against hordes of hellish monstrosities in a battle for your very soul. You’ll have a whole arsenal of weapons and multiple blessings, curses and spells to pick from – so honestly, I wouldn’t be in the shoes of whatever hellspawn decides to stand in your way.

Lost in Random: The Eternal Die

An action-roguelite with a peculiar yet memorable title, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die will have you explore a Tim Burton-esque dark fantasy universe in the role of Queen Aleksandra as she takes on fast-paced, real-time battles with a combination of card-based abilities and dice rolls.

Through the Nightmares

Described as a “challenge-driven platformer”, Through the Nightmares puts you in the role of Sandman, a spirit responsible for good dreams, as he braves the twisted realm of the mad dream god Morpheus and tries to save children from a never-ending nightmare.

The Alters

Would your whole life change if you made different choices in the past? The Alters is a sci-fi game where you’re the only survivor of a space expedition gone wrong – but wait, there’s more. Based on the various potential life paths of the protagonist, you’ll have to create alternate versions of yourself (the so-called Alters) to survive and eventually escape the planet you’re stuck on – a situation which, as you might imagine, comes with its fair share of moral dilemmas as well.

Netherworld Covenant

Netherworld Covenant is an isometric action-roguelite in which you wield the mystical Nether Lantern, a forbidden artifact capable of connecting the land of the living with the netherworld, in order to summon the souls of fallen warriors to aid you in battle.

And that’s our list for now! Did you discover a new indie game to look forward to? Well, we hope you did. In any case, don’t forget to check back in about a month for our next episode, where we’ll be taking a look at the indie games of July 2025!
