Welcome to GTOGG’s February 2025 edition of Promising Indie Game Releases, where we highlight indie and non-mainstream titles that we believe deserve your attention – in other words, “look at all this potentially cool stuff you might’ve missed otherwise”. That would’ve been too long for a title, though.

In any case, let’s get right down to it.

The Silent Kingdom

Described as an otome RPG with a dark, impactful story, The Silent Kingdom stars the young Princess Erinys, whose kingdom falls under the influence of a curse, forcing her to stand against the world in order to save everything she loves. Pretty dramatic, but hey, I like dramatic. The game is going to be a primarily narrative-focused title that aims to tell an emotional story peppered with meaningful decisions, roleplaying opportunities, as well as some optional romance, and will be backed by a classic turn-based battle system featuring three playable characters.

Rift of the NecroDancer

The famed NecroDancer is about to dance back onto your screen – Cadence returns, and gets whisked away to a strange new world with brand new challenges and a familiar (that is, musical) way of solving problems. Rift of the NecroDancer will feature a new soundtrack with fresh songs, and is described as having endless replayability thanks to its Remix Mode – what’s more, it will even come packed with developer tools so players can craft their very own custom beat maps. Groovy.

Blood Bar Tycoon

The basic premise of the game sort of speaks for itself: you’re a vampire manager trying to run a vampire bar. As it turns out, this isn’t exactly a simple affair – not only do you have to micromanage your vampiric minions, but you also have to make sure your mortal customers are satisfied... and properly drained of their precious blood. Manage your business, decorate your place, and please your elder vampire superiors, but remember: should things go wrong, you might end up attracting the unwanted attention of vampire hunters. It’s not easy being an undead businessman...

Legacy: Steel & Sorcery

Legacy: Steel & Sorcery is an upcoming third-person PvPvE RPG (bit of a tongue-twister, that) set in a fantasy realm, where adventure awaits around every corner – and it’s scheduled to hit Early Access soon. In it, players get to choose between a variety of distinct classes, each with unique abilities, and go on adventures either alone or in co-op with up to two other friends in search of shiny loot to take home. Speaking of home: back in the city, you’ll also get to manage your own personal lodgings, cook meals, fortify elixirs and upgrade your gear, allowing you to dive into the next adventure with better chances. Gotta be prepared.

Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog

A point & click adventure/visual novel with an intentionally retro aesthetic, Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog takes inspiration from retro anime and 80s science fiction. Its narrative centers around the crew of the patrol ship Gun-Dog as it’s sent out to investigate some mysterious signals at the edge of space – but as it happens, this seemingly routine mission soon turns into something far more dangerous as the crew comes face to face with a mysterious, unknown threat.

Keep Driving

Keep Driving is a road trip management RPG taking place in the early 2000s – you hear about a festival on the other side of the country and decide to hop into your car and just... go. In terms of gameplay, you’ll be driving across a procedurally generated open world brought to life with nostalgic pixel art, dealing with whatever problems or challenges crop up on the road. The game will also feature multiple different endings, so don’t hesitate to re-do your adventure and explore different paths – after all, you’re only young once.

And that’s our list for now! Did you discover a new indie game to look forward to? Well, we hope you did. In any case, don’t forget to check back in about a month for our next episode, where we’ll be taking a look at the indie games of March 2025!
