August – and with it, summer – may be coming to an end, but there are still a handful of cool indie games to look forward to before we officially dive into September. Take a look!

Sword of the Sea (August 19)

A stylish new game from the creator of ABZU, Sword of the Sea will have you restore a lost ocean. What’s more, you’ll be doing this by surfing across water and sand with your trusty Hoversword – a combination of a surfboard, a snowboard and a skateboard.

Herdling (August 21)

A relaxing exploration game where you go on an emotional journey alongside a herd of mysterious fluffy creatures known as Calicorns, all the while traversing a variety of scenic locations.

The Girl from Arkanya (August 21)

A cute action-RPG that follows a young treasure hunter called Marisa and her talking capybara friend Kapi as they go on an adventure to explore the lands of Amazonia. The game was inspired by the illustrious Legend of Zelda franchise, particularly some of its 2D installments like Minish Cap and Four Swords Adventures.

Deep Sleep: Labyrinth of the Forsaken (August 21)

A horror point & click adventure game set in developer scriptwelder’s Deep Sleep series, Labyrinth of the Forsaken follows the otherworldly adventures of Amy, a young woman exploring a variety of dream worlds in search of clues about her supposedly dead brother.

Carnival (August 25)

A point & click folk horror set in Venice – journalist James Maynard travels to the city for a seemingly everyday story, but instead ends up discovering its dark underbelly.

Vlad Circus: Curse of Asmodeus (August 26)

The next entry in the Vlad Circus series, Curse of Asmodeus is both a sequel and the prequel to 2023’s Vlad Circus: Descend into Madness – it follows the tortured journey of Josef Petrescu as he picks up, piece by piece, the lost fragments of his past.

The Knightling (August 28)

An open world action-adventure game in which you play as the titular knightling as they attempt to find their missing mentor, Sir Lionstone. Your only weapon? A legendary shield left behind by Lionstone himself.

And that’s it for now, but don’t go too far – we’ll see you soon in September with even more indie games!
