In case you missed it, Sony’s most recent State of Play broadcast happened just the other day, bringing numerous exciting reveals and announcements directly to our eyeballs. Now, I know what you’re wondering. Did they announce a Bloodborne remaster or PC port? Sadly, no. But don’t be too disappointed, the stream did nonetheless feature more than a handful of interesting games – games that we’d very much like to share with you, in no particular order.

So, which titles did GTOGG find the most exciting during Sony’s program? Let’s find out, shall we?

Lies of P Overture

Lies of P is very much a soulslike that draws heavy inspirations from the Soulsborne franchise, and does so with plenty of charm and individuality. As such, it hardly comes as a surprise to see it return in the form of a DLC expansion – Lies of P Overture will serve as a “dramatic prequel” to the base game and take players back to the city of Krat before its downfall, letting them explore its wintry wonderland prior to all the chaos.

Tides of Annihilation

A fantasy action-adventure that provided one of the most jaw-dropping trailers of the entire program, Tides of Annihilation takes place in the ruins of London as it’s being crippled by an invasion from another realm. Players will follow the adventures of Gwendolyn, the last survivor of the city, as she takes up arms against the invaders and wields the power of legendary knights inspired by Arthurian legend. Honestly, just watch the trailer. It’s pure eye candy.

Blue Prince

Described as a “genre-defying experience”, Blue Prince has you step into the role of the heir of Mt. Holly, a mysterious and ever-shifting mansion whose rooms reset each day. Your task? To find the enigmatic Room 46 and uncover the many secrets and mysteries lurking beneath the surface. I cannot even begin to guess what secrets those could be, but hey, the game has me thoroughly intrigued.

Dreams of Another

“There is no creation without destruction” – that is the main encompassing theme of Dreams of Another, a unique game whose trailer did genuinely feel like taking a trip through a surreal dreamscape. The basic concept of the game is that shooting creates things instead of destroying them, which pretty much goes against every basic rule in video games – as for the narrative, it will explore the stories of two “emotionally scarred” characters, The Man in Pajamas and The Wandering Soldier.

The Midnight Walk

The Midnight Walk looks delightfully creepy and Tim Burton-esque, and was probably one of the most visually memorable games during the show – it will take players on a journey across a world of darkness, built with clay and brought to life with a stop motion animation style. As a side note: we may not be getting a new American McGee’s Alice game, but I’m glad projects like this exist to at least try and fill that void.

Saros

Saros is the new game from Returnal developer Housemarque, and I’m willing to bet that sentence alone has many of you understandably excited. Set on a “hostile, shape-shifting planet”, the project will be a third-person action game with “permanent progression systems, where every death reshapes the world”, which my brain has pretty much just translated to “roguelike”. It’s similarly worth noting that the game’s protagonist will be played by Rahul Kohli, the actor you may know from excellent shows like Midnight Mass and The Fall of the House of Usher.
