We would be hard pressed to find a western RPG enthusiast who had not yet heard of Pillars of Eternity, Obsidian’s attempt at – let’s be blunt here – reviving the glory days of Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment. The game was funded via Kickstarter back in 2012 (under the name Project Eternity) and now, three years later, is on the verge of release. Which is great news, but here’s more: there’s already an expansion in the works. During a Reddit AMA, Obsidian’s very own Adam Brennecke revealed that part of the team is already working on “areas and environments” for an expansion roughly the size of Tales of the Sword Coast (the original expansion pack for the first Baldur’s Gate). In addition to this, the team stated back in February that they would like to begin work on a sequel as soon as possible.

Pillars of Eternity is due out on March 26 for PC, Mac and Linux.
