The game invites players into a universe where “survival of the fittest” is the only rule to live by – a land once ravaged by a deadly plague and now teeming with opportunistic bandits and mercenaries who fight for riches, not for any noble case. Wartales makes it very clear that it’s not the story of valiant heroes, as players will take control of a group of mercenaries to eke out an existence in a harsh world fit only for the strong. It’s also worth noting that you don’t necessarily have to do this alone: Wartales supports co-operative play for up to four players, so grab a few buddies and become the one mercenary band to rise above all others.
