Agustín Cordes and his company Senscape of Scratches, Serena and Asylum fame are back with another horror adventure project, one that is probably their most ambitious one to date. The goal? To recreate – and stay absolutely faithful to – the chilling cosmic horror conjured up by legendary storyteller H.P. Lovecraft through an adventure game based upon the only novel Lovecraft wrote during his life: The Case of Charles Dexter Ward. The project – which is
still in the very middle of funding over at Kickstarter – will whisk players away to Providence, the hometown of Lovecraft himself, as they solve a series of mysteries involving unspeakable horrors and witchcraft surrounding a warlock by the name of Joseph Curwen. And if that alone doesn’t quite sate your appetite, there’s more: a project called The Shadow Over Providence, a documentary / behind-the-scenes film shot in the town of Providence and hosted by scholar and Lovecraft expert T.S. Joshi, highlighting and explaining the history behind all the important landmarks that played a key role in both the story and Lovecraft’s life.
The Case of Charles Dexter Ward is estimated to be released on PC, Mac and Linux near the end of 2015. The game is also up on Steam Greenlight, so if you fancy casting a vote, you can do that right now.
