Light at the end of the tunnel – Woolfe IP bought by Rebellion

Woolfe was a game we reported on quite a while ago, a 3D platformer with gorgeous artwork that took the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale to turn into something darker – not entirely unlike what we’ve seen with American McGee’s Alice and its sequel, Madness Returns. Sadly, the studio responsible for the game, GRIN, ended up filing for bankruptcy due to disappointing sales numbers, and although the first episode of Woolfe went up on Steam successfully, the second game could never be finished and the IP had to be put up for sale. But there are some good news: namely, that Sniper Elite and Aliens vs. Predator developer Rebellion has stepped in to buy the IP and all its assets, potentially saving it from fading into obscurity. What’s more, Rebellion say they’ll be able to fulfill all the backer rewards that still remained unfulfilled due to GRIN’s bankruptcy. Obviously, this doesn’t mean Rebellion will start developing a new Woolfe game right away (according to them, it would also be problematic from a technical standpoint due to differing engines), but it’s certainly a start, and a bit of light at the end of a very dark tunnel.
