Franz Kafka’s 1915 novella, The Metamorphosis, is probably one of the most fascinating works of early 20th century literature – it tells the story of Gregor Samsa, a young man who one morning finds himself transformed into a giant insect-like creature. This, naturally, leads to all sorts of complications, and the novella depicts how Gregor and his family attempt to adjust to the former’s peculiar new state of being. Either way, before I inadvertently turn this space into a literature column, let me also quickly mention that there’s a video game called Metamorphosis, and that it has a new trailer out.

Developed by Ovid Works, Metamorphosis is a first-person adventure inspired by Kafka’s work: in other words, you’re Gregor and you’ve turned into a bug, so now you have to embark on a journey to find out why this happened to you, all the while exploring a variety of surrealist environments. Oh, and there’ll be puzzles, too – the kind even a bug can solve, I imagine. Metamorphosis will be out this summer on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch.
