Developer Dreadlocks’ upcoming supernatural adventure takes inspiration from the real world – the game, titled Ghost Theory and described as a “serious take on paranormal research”, will make use of real life haunted sites to tell its chilling story. As protagonist Barbara – blessed and cursed with the ability of clairvoyance –, players will use a variety of gadgets to explore and investigate a number of haunted locations, each serving as a separate mission with their own, self-contained stories to tell. Once your mission is complete, you go back to your home base (a university) to watch some cutscenes and move on to the next mission.
Ghost Theory is currently up on Kickstarter with a L50,000 initial goal – however, the project’s stretch goals should not be ignored, either: some provide additional levels, while others would allow you to freely explore the university after each mission to manage your paranormal team.
The game is scheduled to release around September of 2017 for PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One and PS4, with VR headset support.
