Developer Zenovia Interactive has announced a 2D run-and-gun action game called Neon Inferno. Sporting vibrant visuals and some truly glorious pixel art inspired by the 32-bit era, Neon Inferno sets up its story on the futuristic streets of New York in the 2050s, as the city has become a dystopian nightmare with a corrupt police force and several vicious crime syndicates running rampant. Players will take on the role of an assassin belonging to an up-and-coming crime family, shooting their way through both the poverty-stricken streets of the Bronx and the neon-lit gardens of the rich and powerful. Gameplay is primarily inspired by Contra and Wild Guns, blending side-scrolling shooters with gallery shooters, thus allowing players to hit things in both the foreground and the background. It’s also worth noting that albeit the game offers an easier mode depending on your preferences, it also features a classic arcade difficulty for those hoping to dive into a truly retro-style challenge – either alone or in two-player co-op.
