If I say that Faeland is essentially a 2D Metroidvania-esque action RPG set in a fantasy setting of towering castles, green forests and dangerous monsters, I’ve already revealed a decent chunk of what you need to know about it – the game, having hopped onto Kickstarter in an effort to amass some funds, treads on familiar ground, but appears to do it with enough charm and elegance to interest the would-be player. In short, it looks pretty good. In Faeland, you take on the role of a hunter who, after his home is raided by monsters, is forced to go on a quest to – you guessed it – save the kingdom from ruin. Seeing how we’re dealing with a Metroidvania here, you can expect a decent bit of backtracking, plenty of exploration, massive bosses to tackle and multiple different weapons to equip, each providing a unique play style. It’s being developed for PC, Mac and Linux, and may be ported to consoles (PS4, Xbox One, Switch) as well, provided the necessary stretch goals are met. If all goes well, Faeland will be out in December 2019 – backers, however, can already access an early prototype build by pledging at least one dollar to the campaign.
