Bandai Namco is excited to announce (and no doubt we’re all very excited to hear) that Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is leaving behind Games for Windows Live and will be fully integrated into Steam this November. What does that actually mean? According to Bandai Namco, Dark Souls players will be receiving a Games of Windows Live Token that will enable them to redeem the game on Steam, completely free of charge. It will also be possible to move all your progress, characters and achievements over to Valve’s platform from GFWL. There’s one more important bit:
“Players will still be able to use their Games for Windows Live Tokens to redeem the Steam version of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition at no additional cost even after the migration period ends; but game Save Data and Achievements transfer functions may not be available.”
So if you’re a Dark Souls player, remember to move all your data next month, just to be sure.
