Apparently, Ubisoft was planning to relaunch its Prince of Persia franchise following the release of 2010’s Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. This is seemingly proven by a brief gameplay teaser for a title called Prince of Persia: Redemption – a video that was uploaded to YouTube in 2012, but went largely unnoticed over the years. The gameplay demonstration showcases the Prince making his way across a rapidly crumbling Persian city, fighting various enemies, and displaying time-rewinding abilities reminiscent of the ones first introduced in the Sands of Time trilogy. The footage also looks rather scripted, but it’s impressive all the same – especially for something apparently made in the early 2010s.

The Prince of Persia franchise hasn’t exactly been too active as of late. Not counting a couple of mobile-exclusive titles, the last proper installment of the illustrious series launched in 2010 with the previously mentioned Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands – after 2008’s standalone reboot, The Forgotten Sands once again returned to the same Prince we came to know in the Sands of Time trilogy, and saw him embark on an adventure set between the events of Sands of Time and Warrior Within.
