The Vienna Comic Con, generally abbreviated to just “VIECC”, will once again bring its wide array of celebrities and exciting activities to the Austrian capital, hoping to attract enthusiastic fans from all over the globe. Much like in previous years, fans of movies, TV shows and comic books will have plenty to look forward to during the event, but don’t worry if you’re more interested in esports and cosplay – you’ll certainly be able to find something to fit your tastes when the gates of VIECC open on November 17 and 18.

One of the many celebrities to attend VIECC this year is John Noble, who played the part of Denethor, the father of Boromir and Faramir in the Lord of the Rings movies, but attendees will also have the opportunity to meet Harry Melling, whose performance as the spoiled Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter films is no doubt still remembered by countless fans. And while we’re on the topic of antagonistic fictional characters, the one and only David Morrissey will also be attending VIECC – for those not in the know, he played the fearsome Governor, one of the most memorable villains from the third and fourth seasons of The Walking Dead. Additional guests include John Ross Bowie, who you may remember as The Big Bang Theory’s Barry Kripke, Ernie Hudson, one of the members of the original Ghostbusters team, and Steve Cardenas, the second Red Ranger from Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers.

Those hoping to run into some legendary figures from the comic book industry will be happy to hear that among the guests is Neal Adams, whose work in the 1970s gave Batman a darker, more brooding look compared to the vastly different Adam West version from the 60s, as well as talents like Donny Cates (God Country, Buzzkill, Babyteeth), Jim Balent (Catwoman) and many others. Some of the most popular cosplayers will also be attending this year’s VIECC. You’ll be able to meet many a talented costume-smith, including Eye of Sauron (last year’s cosplay champion), Ivy Doomkitty, Tabitha Lyons and Canvas Cosplay– the four of them, by the way, will also serve as the jury for this year’s Championships of Cosplay. And finally, if you’re in the mood for a bit of competitive gaming, you’ll want to check out the 2018 edition of the Vienna Challengers Arena, where various esports teams will be duking it out to see who’s best.
