Campo Santo, a studio formed by developers who had previously worked on titles such as The Walking Dead and Mark of the Ninja, has announced its first title, Firewatch. According to the story of this first-person adventure, a man travels to the Wyoming wilderness to work as a fire lookout and get away from the troubles of his life. His only contact during this peaceful and lonely existence is his boss, with whom he keeps in touch via radio – his situation, however, changes drastically when something – we do not yet know what – draws him out of the safety of his tower and into the wilderness. What he’ll find in the darkness of the wild, we can only speculate, but the general premise does sound fairly intriguing thus far. Sadly, not much else had been shared by the developers in terms of the actual storyline, but if I had to make a guess, I would probably say that our lone hero will stumble upon a dark secret better left forgotten. Whether Firewatch will tell a story dealing with the ordinary, or we’ll maybe see glimpses of the supernatural at work, I cannot quite tell you just yet, but in all honesty, I would not be surprised if our fire lookout’s predicament had something to do with the latter.

Not much has been said about a release date, other than the developers expressing their desire to be finished sometime in 2015, if all goes according to plan.
