Anima Flux, a stylish co-op metroidvania set in a dystopian future, is going to release on October 7 for Steam. Taking place on a massive space ark, and in a world inspired by the retro sci-fi aesthetics prominent in the 80s and 90s, the game begins as a mutant invasion closes in on the last remaining human city. Not all hope is lost, however: players will take control of two genetically enhanced super soldiers in the service of a theocratical dictatorship as they attempt to fight back and save what’s left of humanity. The co-op angle is one of Anima Flux’s major selling points: both characters develop in different ways, and even if your co-op buddy isn’t around, you can simply play solo and let the AI take over for your partner. In addition to that, the project’s also looking mighty atmospheric in general, with dark, futuristic locations that – hopefully – harbor all kinds of secrets for would-be players to discover.
If you’d like to try the game for yourself before launch, there’s actually a playable demo you can grab from Steam. There’s also a trailer:
