Jaw Drop Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Deathground, a dinosaur-themed survival horror game. In it, you and potentially a couple of other people are dropped into zones teeming with clever, reactive dinosaurs that can and will hunt you down if you’re not quick on your feet – so get in there, collect some loot, then get out before you end up becoming dino food. The game will support both single player and multiplayer options: solo play is understandably designed to be a more traditional survival horror experience where tensions are high and stealth is key, while the co-op mode will feature a team of up to three survivors having to work towards a common objective. Resources will be scarce, forcing players to scavenge for items, craft useful tools, and create frequent distractions to try and outwit the various dinosaurs roaming each level.

According to the project’s Kickstarter page, the base game will offer a total of 3 maps, 2 dinosaur types and 3 character classes – each with its own traits and tools – to pick from, with plans to add more later. The Jurassic Park influences are undeniable, and the game does give me some heavy Alien: Isolation vibes with the added option to play in co-op – if done right, Deathground could very well turn out to be something quite special indeed. It’ll be worth keeping an eye on, that’s for sure.

Deathground is currently in development for PC and is being scheduled for a Q3 2021 Early Access launch.
