Blizzard has previously teased an upcoming Diablo-related announcement for BlizzCon 2018, and as it turns out, this announcement did not exactly end up being what fans of the demon-slaying franchise were expecting or at least hoping for: for indeed, Diablo Immortal is a Diablo game exclusively for iOS and Android. Co-developed by Chinese mobile game company NetEase, Diablo Immortal has been introduced as a Massively Multiplayer Online Action RPG with a persistent online world. You’ll be able to play as six classes (Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer, Wizard) and experience a storyline taking place between the end of Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction and the beginning of Diablo 3.

Fans’ reactions to the announcement has been overwhelmingly negative, surprising even Blizzard – the company, however, reiterated that it’s working on multiple Diablo projects, likely hinting at a potential Diablo 4 reveal at one point in the future. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
