Detective Grimoire’s gameplay was designed especially with tablet devices and PCs in mind, utilizing either a mouse or delicate touchscreen controls. The game itself consists of both of creative puzzle solving as well as questioning a variety of locals – the residents of the swamp–, each having their own take on the murder and their own two cents to share about the deceased. Players will have to collect clues, combine and inspect evidence as they dig deeper in order to unearth the truth hidden within the swamp – a unique combination of detective work and puzzle solving very much reminiscent of the highly successful Professor Layton franchise.
The project that led to the current form of Grimoire was birthed – if we may indulge in such commonplace – over half a decade before, back in 2007, starting out as a mere Flash game. As the years passed, the project expanded – in the form of iOS and Android versions – and later, in 2012, managed to raise over 29.000 dollars via a Kickstarter campaign, thus allowing for a Windows, Mac OS and Linux port to also be made possible.
Detective Grimoire is available now for the meager price of 7 dollars, appearing on all the above mentioned platforms.
