If you’ve been wondering what The Game Kitchen – the minds behind The Last Door – have been up to as of late, well… here’s the answer: their new project, Blasphemous, is an impressive-looking 2D action platformer set in a nightmarishly beautiful pixel-world populated by all sorts of horrors and mind-boggling monstrosities. According to the storyline, the pontiff in the land of Orthodoxia turned into a massive tree, then burned away, leaving a colossal mountain of ash in his wake that swallowed up his followers, transforming them into abominations. This is where our protagonist, The Penitent One, comes in, armed with a massive sword and a desire to slay some monsters.

Blasphemous is currently up on Kickstarter and is doing quite well – the game, according to the team’s initial plans, will see its global release on PC, Mac, and Linux in Q1 2019, but with enough funding and some stretch goals, additional ports for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PS Vita are also a possibility. Additionally, backers in „The Follower” ($25) tier or above can try the game’s Beta in Q3 2018, while those in “The Disciple” tier ($40) or above will also have access to the game’s Alpha a bit earlier, in Q2 2018.
