Pillars of Eternity getting a sequel is hardly that much of a surprise, seeing how we’ve already known about it, but now we have a specific name to attach to the long-awaited continuation. Indeed, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, as it’s officially called, is happening and has already begun amassing crowdfunding money over at Fig. In the story of Deadfire, the god Eothas returns – inhabiting the colossal stone giant that used to slumber beneath your fortress in the first game – and begins to wreak havoc, nearly killing you in the process. Your job, obviously, is to follow the giant and get some answers, a task that will take you to the all-new area of the Deadfire Archipelago.

Pillars of Eternity 2 asked for the hefty sum of $1,000,000 as its initial goal, which it has already collected – and even surpassed. The game is currently scheduled to come out in early 2018 for PC/Mac/Linux.
