The team of Critical Role, a series of streamed Dungeons & Dragons sessions featuring well-known voice actors, has taken to Kickstarter to fund an animated special based on the group’s first adventure under the title “The Legend of Vox Machina”. And they’re doing exceptionally well, too: the Kickstarter campaign soared past its initial goal of $750,000 with ease and has just reached four million dollars at the time of writing this article. This means the project has hit all its current stretch goals, which will add over an hour of additional footage to the project, along with three Critical Role one-shots. The special, based on the Vox Machina campaign, will be animated by Titmouse and features a prequel story by writer Jennifer Muro, set before the events of the streamed campaign. Members of Critical Role will return to voice their characters, including Ashley Johnson, Marisha Ray, Taliesin Jaffe, Travis Willingham, Sam Riegel, Laura Bailey and Liam O’Brien, as well as a few celebrity cameos to spice things up a bit.

The Legend of Vox Machina is scheduled to be out in Fall 2020.

For anyone interested in the group's ongoing adventures, you can tune in to their streams on Twitch every Thursday.
