What happens when your daughter – who happens to love Ghouls ‘n Ghosts – wants to be in her own video game? Well, you start making one for her. That was more or less what happened with Battle Princess Madelyn developer Casual Bit Games of Insanity’s Blade fame: the rest is, apparently, history. As such, the game’s notable similarities to the Ghouls ’n Ghosts is by no means a coincidence – however, if the classic platformer’s difficulty feels intimidating to you, worry not, Battle Princess Madelyn is designed with a self-adjusting difficulty system in mind. What this means is that if you happen to die a lot, the game will sort of back off a bit; if you blast through levels with ease, though, the difficulty will automatically ramp up a bit to give you more of a challenge. Regardless of what sort of gamer you are, it all seems to work out in the end.

There’s also a brief video showcasing the prototype, but Casual Bit Games is planning a lot more for the finished product: 7-8 levels with three stages each, numerous weapons, armors (that can change your abilities depending which one you wear) and bosses, you know the drill – either way, I do recommend checking it out on the official site for a more detailed rundown from the dev himself.

Battle Princess Madelyn looks both gorgeous and promising. The game is being primarily developed for consoles and handhelds first, then possibly PC sometime later.
