Arc System Works has announced Code Shifter, a 2D action game featuring a variety of well-known characters from the company’s many franchises, including ones from Guilty Gear, BlazBlue and the River City series. The storyline of the game concerns the members of a game development studio called Awesome Rainbow Corp, who are on the verge of launching their new title. When a large number of bugs of unknown origin threaten to sabotage their project, they deploy an anti-bug program called Code Shifter in an attempt to clean up the mess. This is where the player comes in, controlling Sera, the personification of the company’s anti-bug program, who happens to also be able to transform into beloved characters from Arc System Works franchises.

Code Shifter is coming to PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC on January 30 in Japan. A western release is also planned, though no specific release date has been given.
