The renowned Alien franchise is getting a tabletop RPG adaptation by courtesy of Free League Publishing and 20th Century Fox. Detailed in a massive hardcover book of 392 pages, the rules of Alien: The Roleplaying game will be based on the Year Zero Engine that you may know from games such as Tales from the Loop or Mutant: Year Zero; in terms of setting, it will take place in 2183, only a few years after the events of Aliens, the second movie in the franchise. The game is set to feature two prominent modes: cinematic play and campaign play. The former consists of pre-made scenarios designed for single sessions that should play out like an Alien movie, while the latter is meant to be experienced over several game sessions and allows for players to freely explore the Alien universe as they see fit.

Alien: The Roleplaying Game will be out on December 10.
