Nightmare mode does exactly what its name suggests: turns the game into a nightmare. But, uh, the good kind of nightmare, I suppose. You’ll get less of the HUD (so no health bars, ammo counters and such), deadlier enemies and less resources to find, with an even deadlier Alien stalking your every move. What’s more, your motion tracker is kind of broken. And by “kind of”, I mean it has a damaged display and may potentially mislead you with unreliable information. Have fun!
For the less adventurous, there’s Novice mode, which is pretty much the opposite of what I’ve described above: you can expect more ammunition, somewhat dumber enemies, and generally more time to explore your environment without getting your face chewed off every five minutes.
