There’s a new Alien game on the way, but it might not be what you’re hoping for, as the recently unveiled – and much-anticipated – Alien: Blackout will be a mobile title coming to the App Store,Google Play and Amazon on January 24. Starring Amanda Ripley, the protagonist of 2014’s Alien: Isolation, Blackout has you control the security systems of a Weyland-Yuatni space station to try and survive your encounter with a deadly Xenomorph on seven different levels. Fans’ reaction to the reveal has been overwhelmingly negative, with most expecting a full-fledged follow-up to Isolation instead of a mobile spinoff. The official Alien Twitter account nonetheless reassured fans that there are more announcements to look forward to, pointing to the hashtag “ReadPlayWATCH” while putting extra emphasis on the “Watch” bit. Our guess? It could be a short film or some sort of an animation project. Whatever it is, we’ll probably find out about it soon enough.
