Indeed, there was once – in 2005 – a game called Condemned: Criminal Origins, a horror FPS that, despite what I’ve just said, wasn’t too much of a shooter, but rather a first-person whack-you-in-the-shin simulator. To elaborate, your character would find various melee weapons in his vicinity and – seeing how ammo was quite scarce – had to rely on close quarter combat in order to defeat the monstrosities thrown at him by the campaign. The game also spawned a console-exclusive sequel called Condemned 2: Bloodshot in 2008, and then… well, not much has happened since then. Will that change, though? Well, Monolith CEO Jace Hall (and current owner of the entire franchise) would very much like that. While he himself is, at the moment, too busy to make it happen, he would consider handing over the rights to “an interested and proven” indie team who would then create, for example, a third game in the series.
So the primary question is this: would you like this to happen? And if so, which team would be able to pull it off?
