Nevermind is a biofeedback horror game, and if that doesn’t quite ring any bells at the moment, it’s okay – I’ll explain it in a second. In the game, you take on the role of a Neuroprober, a physician who quite literally wanders into the minds of trauma victims in order to take an in-depth look at whatever it is that’s tormenting them. Gameplay-wise, Nevermind is a Myst-like adventure game that thus takes you on a journey to the land of the bizarre and the nightmarish, keeping track of how scared you are by monitoring your heart rate during gameplay. And this is where things get interesting: the more stressed out you are due to the disturbing imagery and events happening on-screen, the harder the game will get – and while that may sound harsh, there’s a point to it: to help you cope. Collect yourself, take a deep breath and journey on, managing to face your fear both in-game and in real life. It’s most definitely an interesting idea that unfortunately didn’t quite meet its initial funding goal when it first hit Kickstarter earlier this year – however, with a new Kickstarter and a lower goal, that might very well change. The project now also boasts of Intel’s RealSense technology, aiming to enhance the chilling experience even further.

If things go smoothly on Kickstarter, Nevermind is aiming for a PC, Mac and Xbox One release sometime next October, with Oculus support also being part of the package.
