So it’s finally happening: Dragon’s Lair, the classic arcade game from the 80s featuring a certain iconic-looking knight, may soon be returning to the big screen in the form a full-length animated movie. Don Bluth and Gary Goldman, creators of the original Dragon’s Lair and a number of other 80s cartoon hits including The Secret of NIMH and The Land Before Time, are back to lead the project, provided it’s successful on Kickstarter. As you may imagine, Bluth and Goldman aren’t looking to fund the entire movie on Kickstarter (that would require a $70 million budget), but instead opted to finance a short, 10-minute teaser through the platform that they could go on and show off to potential investors. Story-wise, Dragon’s Lair: The Movie is intended to be a prequel chronicling the backstory of the series’ protagonist, Dirk the Daring.

The Kickstarter campaign is doing moderately well at the moment, having amassed over 70,000 dollars at the time of writing, with still plenty of time left to collect the rest needed to reach the desired goal of $550,000.
